Mrs Lyons has aneasy life and Mrs Johnston has a unmanageable life and has to work hard toearn a support. The same applies to the boys as Mickey has the hardlife and Eddie has the easy life. Willy Russell withal shows us thateducation, living conditions, housing and wealth quarter be affected as adirect result of your class and social background. This meant that thepeople from working class backgrounds had a harder life because theydidnt beat the same opportunities. During the 1980s a lot of peoplewere made redundant because mills and factories closed coldcock, trim downthe number of jobs.First on stage is Mrs Johnston, the stage directions describe her asthirty, but looks sixty. This tells us that the she looks wi on that pointdand old because of all the energetic work she has to do. Russell helpsus to realise her desperate situation in numerous ways. One of the ways hedoes this is by telling us she has septette kids. Although she is a youngwoman she is old in appearance. As a single mum she has to cope withthe pressures of bringing seven children up on her own. One of theways this is shown is when kid one says Mam. The babys crying. Hewants a bottle. Wheres the milk?. After this her other three kids croak complaining about them not having enough to eat. When the motherstarts singing you tramp tell that she is trying her best to make thekids happy but doesnt have the money to do so. She tries to reassurethem by saying undermentioned week Ill be earning, therell be loads of gourmandizeto eat. She is dreaming about the food but deep down sh... ...ife because it affects your job opportunities if you have a pooreducation. For example someone with an A* has a better chance thensomeone with a D of getting the job if they applied for the same job.If you go to a surreptitious school you have a better chance of passingbecause there atomic number 18 fewer students so the teacher can help you to a greater extentbecause there is more time. In the end it depends on your class whichdetermines whether you can go to a private school or not. If yourefrom a rich family you can got to a private school and you will have amuch better chance of passing your exams. But if youre from a poorfamily then you will have to go to a government school and you willhave less chance of passing. It also depends on your hard work and notthe school you attend because if you are truanting and you go to ahigher achieving school then you will passive fail.
